Yes. RHEL OS provide the stack protector in gcc, FORTIFY_SOURCE in glibc to protect against heap based over flows, pointer mangling, ASLR, and another protection scheme (RELRO) that guards against changes to important attack points in the program such as the symbol lookup table.
