When does subscription status change from SIGNED to ACTIVE?
Environment
- Red Hat Satellite 6.x
Issue
- Can we refresh manifest in satellite server before the commence of subscription's ACTIVE start date?
- Can we activate new subscription when the status is shown as SIGNED?
- When does subscription status change from SIGNED to ACTIVE?
- How can we move subscription from SIGNED to ACTIVE?
Resolution
- New bought subscription has a status of SIGNED and a assigned/start date. We cannot activate new subscription before the assigned date.
- All activation starts as per mention date.
- SIGNED status will change to ACTIVE on the start date of subscription at midnight in the US Eastern timezone.
- Once status changed to ACTIVE, customer have to follow below steps:
- Login to customer portal
- My Subscriptions > Subscription Management > Subscription Management Applications > Satellite > select.your.satellite.name > Attach a Subscription .
- Attach a subscription to your satellite after it is ACTIVATED.
- Next, login to your satellite server console and refresh your manifest. Content > Red Hat Subscriptions > Manage Manifest > Actions > Refresh Manifest .
- You can check subscription current status in your Red Hat customer portal or contacting Red Hat support team.

Root Cause
- If the status is SIGNED, satellite server will not reflect new subscriptions after importing/refreshing manifest from customer portal.
Diagnostic Steps
- Contact customer support team to check the status of all new bought subscriptions in your account - SIGNED, ACTIVE, EXPIRED.
- Check the account details.
- Compare previous and new SKU's start date.
