Import manifest fails with 502 Bad Gateway on Red Hat Satellite 6.x

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.9

Issue

An error message 502 Bad Gateway appears in Red Hat Satellite's Web UI when trying to import a new manifest , while the "Refresh" button under Content -> Subscriptions -> Manage Manifest in the Satellite's Web UI is not available and showing this message "This is disabled because no connection could be made to the upstream Subscriptions Allocation"

Resolution

Delete any manual entries of the subscription.rhn.redhat.com, subscription.rhsm.redhat.com and cdn.redhat.com from /etc/hosts

Check the contents of the /etc/hosts file. In this case there were manual entries for the subscription.rhn.redhat.com, subscription.rhsm.redhat.com and cdn.redhat.com
