Resolution

A Subscription Manifest is a set of encrypted files that contains subscription information. It is imported into the Red Hat Satellite Server to access the Content Delivery Network and find the repositories available from the Products of the Subscriptions.

  • ###To create a Manifest:###

    • Log in to the Red Hat Customer Portal with an account that has Org-Admin right. This is required in order to manipulate the subscription and export the manifest.
    • Go to Subscriptions -> Subscription Allocations -> New Subscription Allocation -> Enter the Name and Type
    • Add the subscriptions by navigating to the Subscriptions tab and Add subscriptions.
    • The filter can be used to search or manually browse to the required subscriptions and type the number of entitlements needed. Click on Submit.
    • Click on Export Manifest to download it to the system.
    • Upload the manifest to the Satellite by following the steps mentioned here.
  • ###To update a Manifest:###

    • Log in to the Red Hat Customer Portal with an account that has Org-Admin right. This is required in order to manipulate the subscription and export the manifest.
    • Go to Subscriptions -> Subscription Allocations -> Select the manifest or satellite profile -> Subscriptions -> Add Subscriptions.
    • Manually browse to the required subscriptions or use the filter to search. Enter the number of entitlements needed. Click Submit.
    • Upload or refresh the updated manifest to the Satellite by following the steps mentioned here.
  • ###To exclude some entitlements from Manifest:###

    • Log in to the Red Hat Customer Portal with an account that has Org-Admin right.
    • Go to Subscriptions -> Subscription Allocations -> Select the manifest or satellite profile -> Subscriptions -> Edit the entitlements and reduce the total entitlements quantity.
    • Refresh the updated manifest to the Satellite by following the steps mentioned here.

    • With Satellite 6.4 & later versions, the manifest can also be managed directly in the Satellite WebUI. The below steps can be followed,
      • Navigate to Content -> Subscriptions -> Add subscriptions -> Enter the number of entitlements needed in Quantity to Allocate -> Submit.
      • This single step binds the entitlement to the manifest and refreshes it.
    • NOTE: The above steps apply to connected Red Hat Satellite 6 servers only.
