General questions
What is Subscription Watch?
Subscription Watch provides unified reporting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription usage information across your hybrid infrastructure, including physical, virtual, on-premise, and cloud. This unified reporting model enhances your ability to consume, track, report, and reconcile your Red Hat subscriptions with your purchasing agreements and deployment types.

Is Subscription Watch available to every Red Hat customer?
Yes, it is available to all of our customers free of charge. To access Subscription Watch you need to have at least one active RHEL or OpenShift Subscription and a valid user account on Red Hat Customer Portal.
To access the application, you simply need to connect to This content is not included.cloud.redhat.com to launch it or directly via the following URL: This content is not included.cloud.redhat.com/subscriptions.
What are the requirements?
Subscription Watch is a reporting tool that relies on other Red Hat products for gathering data.
Please read the This content is not included.requirements carefully from the official documentation to determine what is the best scenario for you.
What data is gathered by Red Hat for Subscription Watch?
Data Gathered and Used by Subscription Watch
Will Red Hat use data from Subscription Watch for billing or monitoring my usage of entitlements?
No, the data gathered and displayed in the Subscription Watch application is meant to help you gain visibility into how you are consuming Red Hat products. Subscription watch helps you compare actual consumption to the capacity provided by the subscription profile of your account. For more information about agreements and contractual responsibilities that remain in effect, see the This content is not included.Your responsibilities section of the documentation.
However, if you purchase Platform Services through a third party marketplace, Red Hat may report your usage of the Platform Services to the marketplace vendor for the purpose of invoicing or billing.
How often is the data refreshed?
The time for new data to show up depends on what tools you are using to report your systems.
Subscription Threshold
For any given changes related to subscription, it can take up to 24 hours for Subscription Watch to show the new value for the threshold.
Hosts reported by Insights
- New registrations are being added instantly to the Insights Inventory, however Subscription Watch will take up to 24 hours to reflect them.
- Existing hosts running the Insights clients are reporting every 24 hours by default. The Insights Inventory will be updated immediately, but it may take up to 24 hours to see the changes in Subscription Watch.
Hosts reported by Satellite
When using the inventory plugin to upload the hosts and virt-who inventory from Satellite, the data can take up to 24 hours to make its way to Subscription Watch.
Hosts directly registered to Red Hat Subscription Management
The inventory of hosts directly registered to Red Hat Subscription Management is synchronized once a day, for this reason it can take up to 24 hours to see new data.
What is subscription threshold or capacity and How to calculate subscription threshold or capacity for Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Capacity or threshold is the sum of subscriptions across all of your contracts. Based on this sum of your subscriptions, the maximum capacity, also known as the subscription threshold, is represented by a dashed line in subscription-watch.
In simple words, threshold will tell you how many entitlements you have in your account and how many systems you can subscribe using those. When you add subscriptions to your account, the threshold will increase. When subscriptions expire, this threshold will decrease.
